# BigPicture Availability and Licensing for Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC)

## Summary

This article addresses the current availability of BigPicture in the Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC) environment and provides licensing options for customers migrating from Jira Data Center to AGC. It covers two main scenarios: the technical reasons for the current lack of AGC support and the licensing bridge options available during the transition period.

## Use Case 1: BigPicture Availability in Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC)

### Problem/Context

Customers migrating from Jira Data Center to Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC) may find that BigPicture is not currently available as a supported app in the AGC environment.

### Cause

The absence of BigPicture in AGC is due to several technical and platform-level factors:

- The ongoing migration of BigPicture to the Atlassian Forge platform.
- The transition of the app to the Atlassian "Editions" model (Standard, Premium, Enterprise).
- Atlassian's current platform limitations regarding support for apps with editions within the AGC environment.

### Solution/Workaround

Currently, there is no specific timeline for when BigPicture will be available in AGC. Customers are encouraged to:

1. Raise this requirement directly with Atlassian to highlight the need for "Editions" support in the AGC environment.
2. Monitor Appfire's product updates for future announcements regarding AGC compatibility.

## Use Case 2: Licensing Options During Migration Bridge Period

### Problem/Context

Customers whose Jira Data Center licenses are expiring before BigPicture becomes available in AGC need a way to maintain their current environment without paying for a full 12-month renewal.

### Solution/Workaround

Appfire offers two primary options to bridge the gap during the migration transition:

#### Option 1: Dual Licensing (Recommended)

If you have already purchased (or plan to purchase) a BigPicture license for a standard Atlassian Cloud instance, you may be eligible for **Dual Licensing**.

- **Benefit:** Allows you to run Data Center and Cloud environments in parallel at no extra cost for the app.
- **Requirement:** The Cloud tier must be equal to or higher than the current Data Center tier.
- **Reference:** [Atlassian Dual Licensing Policy](https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/cloud#does-atlassian-offer-incentives-or-discounts-for-migrating-from-server-to-data-center-to-cloud)

#### Option 2: Short-Term Bridge Quote

If you have not yet purchased a Cloud license, Appfire can authorize a short-term renewal for your Data Center environment.

- **Benefit:** Avoids a full 12-month renewal by providing a 6-month (or similar short-term) quote.
- **Process:**
  - Contact Appfire Support to request authorization for a short-term license.
  - Appfire will provide a written authorization statement.
  - Submit a screenshot of this authorization to an [Atlassian Support ticket](https://www.atlassian.com/company/contact/purchasing-licensing) to have the quote generated.

**Sample Authorization Text:**

> "We, Appfire, authorize Atlassian to quote and sell a license for BigPicture - Portfolio & Resource Management for Jira that is less than 12 months for SEN-[Your SEN Number]."
