# Permissions for Configuring Global Team Member Availability

This article outlines the security roles and permissions required to manage the availability of team members within global teams in BigPicture.

1. The required security role to configure team member availability.
2. The feasibility of restricting administrative permissions to a single global team.

### Scenario 1: Required Permissions for Global Team Availability

To configure the availability of team members for a **Global Team** in BigPicture, a user must be granted specific administrative rights at the Box level.

**Required Role:**

- **Box Admin** security role in the **Home (Root) Box**.

**Clarification on "App Resource Admin":**  
The **App Resource Admin** role is **not** sufficient for managing team availability. This role only grants access to the global configuration within the *App Administration > Resources* section, which includes:

- Workload plans
- Holiday plans
- Individual absences

### Scenario 2: Restricting Permissions to a Single Global Team

A common requirement is to allow a user to manage only one specific global team without granting access to others.

**Current Limitation:**  
It is **not possible** to grant a user permission to configure availability for only a single global team.

**Reasoning:**  
BigPicture security roles are evaluated at the **Box level** (and globally at the App level), rather than at the individual team level. Because global teams are created within the Root Box, any user granted the **Box Admin** role for the Home (Root) Box will automatically have administrative control over **all** global teams within that Box.
