# Warning Dialog - Date/Time Format in BigPicture

## Summary

This article addresses a warning dialog in BigPicture Cloud that appears when the connected Jira instance's date/time format is not supported for display. It covers two approaches: a quick workaround to ignore the warning and a sustainable solution by adjusting Jira system settings.

## Use Case 1: Quick Workaround (Ignore Warning)

### Problem/Context

When opening BigPicture, a warning dialog appears stating: *"The correct Date/Time format set in your connected instance cannot be displayed. A default format will be displayed instead."* This is a display-only warning and does not affect the actual data stored in Jira.

### Solution

If you do not wish to change your Jira system settings, you can simply dismiss the dialog.

1. Click the **Ignore** button on the warning dialog.
2. This will prevent the popup from appearing again for the current user until the browser cache is cleared.

## Use Case 2: Sustainable Resolution (Adjusting Jira Settings)

### Problem/Context

The warning appears because BigPicture cannot map the specific date/time format configured in Jira to its internal display engine. To resolve this permanently for all users, the Jira instance's date/time format must be updated to a supported standard.

### Solution

A Jira Administrator must adjust the following settings to use a supported format:

1. **Advanced Settings:**
  - Navigate to **Jira Settings > System > General Configuration**.
  - Click the **Advanced Settings** button.
  - Review and update the following keys to a standard format (e.g., `dd/MMM/yy` or `dd/MM/yyyy`):
    - `jira.date.picker.java.format`
    - `jira.date.picker.javascript.format`
    - `jira.date.time.picker.java.format`
    - `jira.date.time.picker.javascript.format`
2. **Look & Feel Settings:**
  - Navigate to **Jira Settings > System > Look and Feel**.
  - Ensure the **Day/Month/Year Format** and **Complete Date/Time Format** are consistent with the advanced settings.
3. **Language Settings:**
  - Verify the **Default Language** settings, as language-specific locales can influence how date/time formats are interpreted.

### Related Information

- **Note:** BigPicture falls back to a default supported format when it detects an incompatible string in Jira's configuration. Changing these settings ensures that BigPicture can correctly mirror your Jira instance's preferred display format.
