## Problem

Capacity reports may show no data for some users when the selected period or project does not contain the work data required for the report.

## Symptoms

- A capacity report displays no data for one or more users.
- The report works for some users but not others.
- You want to review capacity for all users involved in a project over a weekly or monthly period.

## Prerequisites

- Access to the relevant BigPicture project or top-level box.
- Users must have tasks assigned in the selected scope.
- Tasks should contain estimates or other planning data used by the capacity report.

## Solution

### Step 1: Open the project at the appropriate level

Open the project or top-level box that contains the users and work you want to analyze.

### Step 2: Create the report

Open the Reports area and create a capacity report.

### Step 3: Select the project scope

From the top-level report configuration, select the project or box whose users and tasks should be included.

### Step 4: Select the user category

Choose the user-based category so the report groups capacity by individual users.

### Step 5: Set the reporting period

Choose the required date range and use a weekly or monthly period, depending on the level of detail needed.

**Expected result:** The report displays capacity information for users with relevant assigned and estimated work.

## Verification

For any user whose report is empty, verify that the user has tasks assigned within the selected project and date range, and that those tasks contain estimates. Also confirm that the tasks belong to the selected reporting scope.

## Preventive Guidance

Maintain task assignments, estimates, project scope, and date ranges consistently. Capacity reports depend on the underlying planning data, so missing assignments or estimates can produce an empty result without indicating a product failure.

> ✅ **Reusable troubleshooting principle:** Before escalating an empty report, validate the selected scope, reporting period, user assignments, and task estimates. These checks resolve many cases where the report has no data.
