# Identifying Project-to-Box Usage for Pre-migration Analysis

## Use Case: Pre-migration Project-to-Box Mapping

A common requirement during pre-migration analysis is to identify how each Jira project is utilizing BigPicture. Specifically, users often need a report that maps each project to the Boxes and configurations it currently uses to assess project-level usage and ensure a smooth migration.

### Current Limitations

Currently, BigPicture (Data Center) does not provide a native, automated way to generate a comprehensive project-to-box usage report.

- **UI Reporting:** There is no built-in mechanism or standard report in the BigPicture UI that provides a project-to-Box overview.
- **API/Scripting:** There is no dedicated API endpoint or standard script designed to automatically generate a report mapping Jira projects to their associated Boxes and configurations.

### Recommended Approach

Since an automated report is not available, migration leads must manually assess project-to-Box associations using the configuration data within the application.

#### Manual Assessment Steps:

1. **Review Box Scope:** Navigate to the **Box Configuration** for each relevant Box.
2. **Check Scope Definition:** Under **Scope definition**, identify which Jira projects are included in the Box's scope (e.g., via project filters, JQL, or board selection).
3. **Document Configurations:** Manually record the association between the Jira project and the Box, along with any critical configurations (e.g., Task Templates, Period Mode, or Resource settings) that need to be accounted for during the migration.
