# Enhancements

## Migration to Forge Remote

The Excel for Confluence app has moved to [Forge Remote](https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/remote/).

> 📝 **Connect End of Support**:
> 📝
> 📝 - Atlassian has [announced](https://www.atlassian.com/blog/developer/announcing-connect-end-of-support-timeline-and-next-steps) the end of support for the Connect framework in late 2026.
> 📝 - Appfire recommends upgrading the Excel for Confluence app to the Forge Remote version to stay current with future enhancements and security updates.

### Upgrade to Forge Remote

To upgrade the app to the Forge Remote version, you need administrative privileges.

- Log in to [https://admin.atlassian.com/](https://admin.atlassian.com/) and select your **organization**.
- In the left navigation pane, go to **Apps **and under **Sites**, click the **Site** name.
- The **Site settings** page opens.
- Under **Site settings**, click **Connected apps**.
- From the **Connected apps** page, you can view, update, configure, and uninstall installed apps.
- The Excel for Confluence app displays an **Update** label. Click **View app details**.
- To upgrade the app, click **Update**.
- The *Confirm app update* dialog opens. Click **Update**.

> ⚠️ - **Do not access the app** in the cloud **until the upgrade is complete and a few minutes have passed **to allow the cloud processing to finish.
> ⚠️ - Take a look at the Atlassian article [Data recovery for apps with hosted storage](https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/runtime-reference/storage-api/#data-recovery-for-apps-with-hosted-storage). If you have any questions, contact our [support team](https://appf.re/support).

> 📝 - Until you upgrade the app, you will continue using the existing **Connect on Forge** version.
> 📝 - Both Connect on Forge and Forge Remote versions support the same features and functionality.

## Improved Excel macro editor user experience

The Excel macro editor configuration now opens in a dialog box, providing a more streamlined experience. The macro parameter configuration remains the same, and you can continue to render Excel content in Confluence pages.

> 📝 Previously, the legacy Excel macro editor appeared as a right-hand panel on the Confluence page.

## Post upgrade checks and updates

After upgrading the Excel for Confluence app to the Forge Remote version, you need to make a few updates to **ensure the** **existing Excel macros on your Confluence page** display the table content as expected.

**A few parameter configurations might not display content as configured**, though their parameter values are retained in the backend. This can affect parameters such as **Auto number on each row,** and **Allow download and export**.

For example, though the **Auto number on each row** is enabled in macro configuration, the Confluence table might not display the row number column after the upgrade.

To resolve this:

- **Edit** the Excel macro.
- In the **Excel Configuration** dialog, re-select the **Auto number on each row,** and click **Save changes**.
- **Update** the Confluence page to publish the changes.

If you face a similar issue with any of the Excel macro parameter configurations, edit the macro, re-select the parameter, and save and publish the changes.
